Other Committee · Meeting of May 7, 2026

Groveland Recreation Committee resumes meetings, reports rail-trail bridge and phased Pines lighting project moving forward. Meeting for the first time in months, the committee heard from Conservation Commission member Mike Dempsey that vendor Northeast Trail Works will build a footbridge linking the Community Trail to the Center Street Greenway, pending a Conservation Commission permit expected by early July. The panel is also phasing a Pines recreation lighting overhaul once estimated near $1.6 million, after Town Meeting approved a first phase members put at roughly $125,000 to $137,000.

Six new trailhead kiosks and 16 benches are part of an ongoing 2025 trail-enhancement project, and members floated a paved accessible walking path for the Pines and a possible Tree City USA designation. The committee approved its December 1, 2025 minutes as amended and closed at 8:12 p.m.
