Trustees Question Town's Handling of $527,000 Trust

GROVELAND — Library trustees found more than $527,000 of a building trust fund sitting in a town checking account instead of invested with the board's usual manager. Treasurer Laurel reported the Francis Sullivan account balance of $527,049.20 is held at Kentucky Bank rather than with Bartholomew and Company, which manages the library's other roughly $160,458 in trust funds. "It's a Kentucky Bank checking account.

The whole amount is in a checking account," Laurel told the board. She said she would ask town staff for an explanation and invited Bartholomew representatives to the board's November 4 meeting. Trustees separately voted unanimously, 7-0, to nominate members Nancy, Lee and Rachel to a new bylaw review committee, and Library Director Darcy reported the library roof replacement has been delayed, with the timeline now uncertain between fall and spring.
