Other Committee · Meeting of February 9, 2026
Groveland's Community Preservation Committee reviewed nine fiscal 2026 funding requests, from $2,000 signage to a $1.65 million Pines lighting overhaul, and warned this cycle has more projects than money. The board approved a revised fiscal 2025 Trail Enhancement budget 6-0 with two abstentions and withdrew a separate 2026 trail application. Highway Superintendent Arthur Marcos and an unnamed town administrator pitched a $297,550 Shanahan Field restroom and a $35,000 Washington Park septic system, with resident Bill Daly urging a cheaper interior sewer connection.
Committee member Ed said he evaluates every request by asking, "would you feel comfortable going to town meeting and asking for an override?" Abutter Amelia Dunn asked the board to drop a Crosstown Trail loop near her Center Street home; members said the land's Chapter 97 protection bars closing it to the public. Bonding the Pines lighting project could add roughly $1 million in interest over 20 years. Final project recommendations are due March 23.
