Groveland Council on Aging board votes to recommend reappointing three members to new terms. The board unanimously backed sending letters of intent from Vice Chair Barbara Sandborn, Treasurer Deborah Stevenson and Chair Sharon Hines to the Select Board for new three-year terms. Director Alyssa Lee reported more than 1,500 service interactions in March, 170 van rides and 116 food-pantry visits, and said the department's fall fundraiser has raised $4,650 toward a goal of up to $8,000.
The board reviewed a communitywide needs survey with more than 500 responses, with property taxes and sidewalks the top concerns, and set feedback sessions for May 18 and May 21. Larry McElhenney of the Friends of the Council on Aging previewed a May 2 yard sale and a May 16 concert, and George Honor reported RiverWorks Credit Union raised its sponsorship from $500 to $750. "It truly makes an impact for our communities here," Lee said.
No vote was taken on a proposed cancellation and refund policy, which the board will revisit in June.
