Council on Aging · Meeting of August 3, 2026

Groveland Council on Aging taps a leader for its next director search. The board voted unanimously to name Vice Chair Barbara Sanborn chair of an ad hoc search committee to replace Director Alyssa, who leaves September 30 after accepting a job in another town. Longtime volunteers used public comment to argue assistant director Nisha has been unfairly stuck covering both outreach and a cramped food pantry, with one saying "she doesn't belong in the pantry." Board Chair Sharon Hines said the town's finances, capped by Proposition 2½, "severely limit" staffing and raises, noting the COA runs on one full-time director, one full-time outreach coordinator and a 16-hour-a-week program coordinator.

The board spent the rest of the meeting revising job-posting language, changing "elder affairs" to "older adult affairs" throughout.
