Town Meeting · Meeting of April 27, 2026

Groveland Town Meeting approves $25 million budget, hands VZ Park leasing to Conservation Commission. Voters reconsidered Article 3 after tenant Michelle Denault argued a 1995 town vote and a state self-help grant required Conservation Commission management, not the Select Board's; the amended motion passed unanimously. A separate fight over a Wood Street conservation restriction saw a postponement motion fail 68-44 before the underlying article passed 73-34 to move the parcel into partnership with Essex County Greenbelt.

Town Meeting also repealed its marijuana establishment ban, adopted a new zoning framework requiring facilities to use town water, and approved a $2.65 million bond for town hall roof and electrical work. A $32,760 CPA signage request failed 48-45, the only Community Preservation Act item voted down among ten considered. Resident Greg Labreck warned rising Pentucket and Whittier school assessments could push next year's budget up $800,000 to $900,000.
