Groveland Planning Board Clears Three Escrow Accounts, Restructures Self-Storage Security

GROVELAND — March 3, 2026 — Groveland Planning Board closes out escrow accounts for three developments and restructures self-storage security in an 11-minute meeting. The board voted unanimously Tuesday to release Chapter 44, Section 53G escrow funds tied to three completed projects: the King Meadow Farm development on Katie Lane, the Benjamin Street Extension at 38 Benjamin Street, and the Oakland Terrace Roadway at 733 Salem Street. Member Patrick Molina secured a commitment from Town Planner John to obtain written confirmation from the town's engineering reviewer, TEC, that no outstanding obligations remain on any of the three accounts before closing the files. In a separate matter, Chair Brad Legals recused himself as the board voted 4-0 to release a $5,000 letter of credit held by Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank for Legals's own Groveland Self Storage project at 833 Salem Street and simultaneously accepted $5,000 in cash from Legals as temporary alternative security pending a property sale. The board also announced a public hearing on proposed zoning bylaw updates for Monday, March 16, at 7 p.m. at the Groveland Fire Station.
