Groveland Planning Board closes public hearing on proposed $30 million PFAS water treatment plant, targeting a permit vote at its August 4 meeting.
Planning Board · Meeting of July 21, 2026
Groveland Planning Board closes public hearing on proposed $30 million PFAS water treatment plant, targeting a permit vote at its August 4 meeting. The board unanimously closed the continued hearing on the Site Plan Review and Stormwater Land Disturbance Special Permit for the 8,400-square-foot facility proposed at 183R Main Street, after Apex Companies engineers Alston Potts and Darren Stairs walked members through responses to 27 peer-review comments from the town's technical consultant, TEC. Two items remain outstanding before a vote: a full photometric lighting plan showing edge-to-edge pavement illumination, board members argued the unfenced critical-infrastructure facility requires more lighting than currently proposed, and a correction to the stormwater operation-and-maintenance document, which erroneously references dumpsters the project does not include.
The roughly $30 million construction project, driven by federal PFAS maximum contaminant level mandates, faces an October 2, 2026 MassDEP state revolving fund loan application deadline; groundbreaking is anticipated in March or April 2027, with plant completion targeted between June and August 2029.
