Groveland Select Board Approves Bond Sale, Splits on Liquor License Conditions
Groveland Select Board receives clean audit, approves $3.2 million bond sale, and splits on liquor license conditions at May 26 meeting.
GROVELAND -- May 26, 2026, Groveland Select Board receives clean audit, approves $3.2 million bond sale, and splits on liquor license conditions at May 26 meeting. Auditor Laura Stone of CBiz reported an unmodified opinion on the town's FY2025 financial statements, noting revenues came in approximately $874,000 above budget and expenditures ran $700,000 below budget, adding roughly $1.3 million to the general fund; one significant deficiency was identified involving the Conservation Commission's handling of lease payments, which Stone said did not produce a financial misstatement but reflected inadequate segregation of duties. The board voted 4-1 to approve a one-day liquor license for Sweet Paws Rescue and Bear Wolf Brewing at the Pines Recreation Facility on August 29, with member Kathy dissenting after her motion to require a cordoned alcohol area failed to receive a second. Highway Superintendent Arthur Marcos presented a five-year pavement plan relying on roughly $400,000 in annual Chapter 90 funds, enough for approximately three lane miles per year from a 100-mile town road network, drawing pushback from member Ed over deteriorated streets including Salem Street, Burke Street, and Balch Avenue; S&P Global affirmed the town's AA-plus bond rating with a path to AAA cited by Town Administrator Rebecca.
